We are many hands, one single van.
T4um was born in 2005 out of an idea by Raudo and a handful of other pioneers: first a bare-bones mailing list among Italian Volkswagen T4 owners, then a forum — the forum that for twenty years has been the technical reference point for anyone driving a T4 in Italy.
01 — The story
From a mailing list to the forum we know today.
Back in 2005 Volkswagen T4s were already everywhere in Italy — work vans, Westfalia campers, family multivans — but the people driving them often found themselves alone in front of a wiring diagram, an engine code or a mechanical problem no garage could make sense of. A handful of owners decided to get in touch and swap experiences by email. That is how T4um started: a mailing list founded by Raudo together with a few other pioneers.
That conversation soon turned into a forum, which has since grown into the Italian technical archive of the T4: diagrams, codes, fixes for recurring problems, restorations, conversions, meet-ups. All public, all searchable, all written by hand by the people who actually carried out the repair.
In July 2025, for reasons beyond our control, the forum was rebuilt from scratch keeping its original style: we are now filling it back up together. In the meantime the Facebook group came along (today more than 14,000 members), the Telegram channel for quick support, and this website — which puts in order what is worth keeping.
How it works
T4um only exists because someone, every single day, puts something in.
There is no editorial team, no company, no boss. There are people — the Facebook group admins approving posts and cooling down flame wars, the forum moderators filing and answering, whoever looks after the Telegram channel replying on the spot, the site webmasters keeping the servers up, those who write guides, those who take photos at meet-ups, those who translate a German wiring diagram at two in the morning.
Everyone gives what they can: time, skills, a manual as a PDF, a photo of their own engine half stripped down. Without this network of hands T4um would have been over long ago. Instead it is still here — and still yours.
